This one is for entrepreneurs (or wannabe biz owners)...
Be wary of business coaches.
Investing in coaching is scary AF, amiright?
After my $3k Macbook, the second big purchase I made on my new biz a decade ago was dropping $6k on a business coach.
She was a former lawyer who had built up a huge Facebook group (remember those? ๐คฃ). She was pretty, seemed really smart and nice, and had many fans.
I got swept up.
When she offered a 6-month group coaching program, I felt major FOMO as others in the group signed up.
I didn't have the money, but my supportive partner said, "if this is what you need, then put it on the credit card."
After a decent first month of coaching, she had some major life challenges and ghosted us for months.
While I felt for her personal situation, I couldn't believe I was still being charged $500 every two weeks for services that weren't being rendered.
The experience made me incredibly jaded about online coaches (and yes, I am one so that says something!).
It was years until I took my next leap into a coaching program.
When I got the "enough" email from Jason and Caroline Zook, I knew it was worth the risk to join Wandering Aimfully, their "un-boring coaching program."โ
Fast-forward about 5 years, and now I can say with the utmost confidence that I have zero regrets about the money I've given them.
Hell, I think they deserve far more than the $6k I gave that first unscrupulous coach (even though their program is less than half as much).
Why am I telling you about this?
Because their Spring enrollment is about to close, and I think so many of you reading this could benefit from joining me in WAIM.
Here are the reasons I love WAIM and think you may too:
- The Zooks are REAL. These two keep it ๐ฏ. They pull back the curtain on their business and their life, sharing all the ups and downs, including the line-item of their revenues. Caroline has also been super vulnerable about sharing her challenges with severe anxiety and, recently, with trying to have a family.
- They walk the talk. They start every group call by reviewing the community values. And let me tell you, they actually put them into practice. Hopefully you know how important values are to me, and it's rare that I find others who are doing a fine job of living theirs. These two are amazing at it.
- They're fun! This isn't your mom's coaching program ๐คฃ These two love to laugh and be silly. Heck, every coaching session now ends with a "tier list" where Jason ranks things in a particular category, while all of us in attendance give him shit ๐
- They show it, not just say it. It's one thing to enter a "theoretical" teaching space, where someone shares "best practices" but doesn't show you how they apply it to their own business. The Zooks put everything into real-world application, whether it's modeling something in their own businesses or showing how it can work in our businesses.
- They're always experimenting. At each month's teaching session, the Zooks share a "Field Notes" section with show-and-tell about their latest experiments. Recently, they built an app for the program's accountability component using AI (not coding), and showed us every bit of what worked and didn't.
- The community is great. It's not a surprise that a duo that leads so strongly with values would attract lots of aligned folks. I've met some AMAZING business owners in the space, and the Slack group is always buzzing (not surprising with some 1k members).

Join me in Wandering Aimfully! Spring enrollment ends this week (but I know a secret back-door trick if you miss the deadline โ just email me). |
Is Wandering Aimfully for you?
This isn't the community for everyone (there is no one-size-fits-all anything!).
This space is probably for you if...
โ You're a service provider who wants to add courses, digital downloads, memberships, etc. to your offerings and feels a bit overwhelmed by it.
โ You value teachers who show their work (ie, let you behind the scenes of their own businesses, and who put what they teach to action in their own lives).
โ You don't take things too seriously, and love to laugh while you learn.
โ You're craving community with others in the same boat, with whom you can share ideas and resources.
โ You don't mind the "sage on a stage" approach of teachers hosting largely one-way workshops (though the chat on their calls is ๐ฅ and the engage with us almost non-stop).
In addition to getting to join me on the monthly community teaching calls (I *never* miss them), you also get access to a DEEP library of past sessions and a ton of tools.
There's basically not a question you have about creating and selling an online product that you can't find the answer for in their vault.
Every member also gets free lifetime use of Teachery, their online course-hosting platform. That's a major savings (I used to spend $700+ a year on Podia).
Oh, and perhaps best of all? Once you pay your initial joining fee of $2,800 (either over 7 months or 28 months), you never pay them again.
Seriously.
I joined years ago and haven't paid another penny โ and I'm still learning from them every month, still active in the Slack community, and still using Teachery to host my courses for free.
I hope you'll consider joining me in WAIM. I really don't think you'll regret it!
PS: If you miss the cut-off for Spring enrollment, never fear. You can still join using this super-secret back-door sign-up link. ๐คซ If you have problems, hit reply and I'll make sure you get in.
